Hyundai Merchant Marine has completed a pilot voyage using blockchain technology. Setting out from Busan on 24 August, the vessel docked in Qingdao on 4 September with a cargo of reefer containers. The carrier utilised the system from booking through to delivery and, combined with Internet of Things technology, was able to monitor and manage the cargo in real-time. Following this successful test, the carrier says another is planned for October that will take in a greater diversity of locations.
