Road Haulage Association CEO Richard Burnett, along with 21 logistics companies and associations, has sought the “urgent” personal intervention of UK prime minster Boris Johnson to address the country’s fast-escalating driver shortage.
In a letter to the prime minister, Mr Burnett urges him to act to avert a “critical supply chain shortage”: as a priority, the RHA is seeking a temporary work visa to allow hauliers to hire European drivers, the establishment of a taskforce and the re-establishment of Defra’s Food Resilience Industry forum, disbanded this year. June 28, 2021 at 2:48 pmIt doesn’t help with the DVLA striking been trying to get my provisional for weeks now. Drivers medical all done and application all sent it seems to have gone into a black hole now with the DVLA. Without them progressing my application I can’t even do my theory and hazard perception or CPC as these can’t be booked without the entitlement added to my license. Wouldn’t be so bad if you could pass these whilst you were waiting for the return of your license.
