OOCL via JD.com is a timely masterstroke

There are two reasons why last week’s news that OOIL/OOCL and its owner Cosco Shipping Holdings are strengthening their ties with JD.com could be a game-changer, which is arguably part of the paradigm shift we are witnessing in the logistics industry on a global scale.

In this context, controlling the vertical integration of upstream flows – a la CMA CGM + Ceva Logistics – is just one part of the jigsaw, and possibly not the most important right now.
