Shipping looks set to be added to the European Emissions Trading Scheme (ETC), following a vote yesterday in the European Parliament.
Shipping had been excluded, but now a new vote will be taken in September, which if passed, will see it enter the ETC in January. The vote came as MSC joined Ryanair and eight coal-fired power stations on a list of the top 10 carbon emitters, although MSC claimed the calculations were wrong. Containernews.com reports.
