DB Schenker has named Niklas Wilmking (pictured above) as its new chief executive for the Asia Pacific region.
Dr Wilmking was most recently executive vice president of global airfreight at DB Schenker’s head office, responsible for network flight operations, procurement, revenue management and digitalisation.
He joined Schenker in 2002, and has held various operational and corporate leadership positions in Europe and Asia, including leading corporate strategic transformation projects and managing comprehensive P/L portfolios. He was chief executive of Schenker in Vietnam and another Schenker subsidiary, Star Global, in Hong Kong.
Notably, Dr Wilmking led the freight and logistics project for the Beijing Olympics and the M&A integration for BAX Global and Schenker.
He has now returned to the Asia Pacific region’s regional head office in Singapore to lead more than 15,000 employees across 20 countries.
Prior to joining Schenker, Dr Wilmking spent seven years in operational positions at Lufthansa.
