Some major forwarders are reconsidering their relationship with Volga-Dnepr carriers AirBridgeCargo (ABC) and Cargologicair (CLA).
This follows this week’s announcement that Volga-Dnepr Airlines will no longer work with brokers.
Several customers of the group have expressed doubt that the new strategy of “direct sales” will be limited only to the charter services of the AN-124 and Ilyushin operator.
“Does Alexei [Isaikin, president] not realise that everyone knows that ABC and CLA is part of the same company?” asked one key customer.

September 16, 2018 at 8:18 amWow…I fully support VDG . Cut out the brokers.
Most sensible move they made this year.
Let the Brokers scream and shout, is obvious they will lose money so they are pi##ed at the decision. Is also funny how the media claim a couple on Antonovs are the biggest income of of VDG. Please..if you print anything realistic…i will wake up, VDG are a, on time, every time air logistical company..
Brokers crying about losing a buck?
Get a grip.
Kallita air is that way 》

September 17, 2018 at 1:07 pmThanks for your comment Stevro – we shall endeavour to keep you awake!
Just as a point though, the Antonovs must surely be a significant part of Volga-Dnepr Airlines’s business – they have more than “a couple” (I think VD operates six, currently), and rates are high. It must be a good chunk of the airline’s income,
And we checked earlier today – Kalitta Air does use brokers.

September 17, 2018 at 9:53 amThe broker’s job is to push the operators down on price which ultimately benefits the shipper, it’s obvious therefore why VD don’t want to have them involved ! This is bad news for the shippers and the free market. As a forwarder we will continue to use broker experts to secure us the best rates. Today the broker is excluded, tomorrow, the forwarder ? From the VD website it is clear they are targeting shippers.

time ll show if there are consequences to the group business
