UPS appears to be fighting back against FedEx’s grand plans for Europe. It may have missed out on the chance to acquire TNT, but it is going to spend cash anyway, according to German magazine Wirtschaftswoche. UPS plans to spend €1bn on increasing the number of parcel shops and sorting centres, and has this year already added 22,000sq metres to its network through expanding three logistics facilities, in the Netherlands and Germany.
