It seems that ‘congestion’ is the word again at Europe’s container terminals this summer with both the biggest and second largest box hubs causing angst to its feeder and barge customers.
Barge operator Contargo is introducing a €15 per box surcharge during August at Rotterdam terminals and also warns of bottlenecks starting to impact Antwerp operations.
Meanwhile, Baltic feeder specialist Team Lines is also introducing a €75 per teu surcharge for cargo moved via ECT Delta and ECT Euromax and has warned of renewed congestion problems at Hamburg’s HHLA Burchardkai facility.
