David Shepherd, long-time commercial director of IAG Cargo, has become chief commercial officer of Aer Lingus.
Mr Shepherd has been head of digital ventures for IAG Cargo since moving on from commercial director in 2017, a few months after Lynne Embleton took over as chief executive. Sources at the time indicated that he had been hoping for promotion within IAG after chief executive Steve Gunning left the cargo division.
Since March 2017, Mr Shepherd has also been managing director of the British Airways-owned Zenda, a transatlantic e-commerce shipping platform, which aims to offer fast shipping at tax-inclusive affordable prices.
According to LinkedIn, Mr Shepherd remains Zenda’s MD despite his new role at Aer Lingus, which appears to be his first on the passenger side. Mr Shepherd is also a non-executive director at Mallaghan Engineering, an aviation and aerospace company in Northern Ireland.
