There is little about cargo in United’s second-quarter results, out yesterday. But what there is, is good. (Although, of course, everyone’s 2017 results are looking better than 2016’s.) In the second quarter, United Cargo enjoyed a 22% rise, year-on-year, in revenue, to $254m. (In comparison, last week Delta announced its second-quarter cargo revenue was up 10.9%, to $183m.)
For the first half, United Cargo revenues were up 18%, to $474m. Cargo ton miles rose 22% in the first quarter, year-on-year, to 828m, and were up 21% in the first half. Overall, the group saw net profits rise 39% to $818m.
The earnings call had yet to happen as The Loadstar published, but in the unlikely event that cargo is mentioned, we’ll let you know what they said.
