Port of Dover Cargo, the UK ferry port’s lo-lo operation that has a burgeoning business in reefer shipments, has appointed Nik Scott-Gray as its new general manager.
Chief commercial officer Barbara Buczek welcomed Mr Scott-Gray to the port in what she described as a “very exciting year” for the cargo sector.
“Since the arrival of Geest in early 2018, we have already seen a 38.6% increase in ship import tonnage and an 8% increase in ship calls,” she said.
“Our customers have great expectations about their future at Dover and I am delighted that we have appointed Nik. He is someone with the right experience to drive every aspect of the business forward and realise our collective ambitions.”
Mr Scott-Gray said: ““With such a fantastic future, created by a platform of much-anticipated new facilities and strong customer demand, I look forward to bringing my full industry experience to Dover and delivering on its success.”
Mr Scott-Gray joins the Kent port from Port of Montrose where he spent the last four years as chief executive. He joined the Scottish port from consultancy David MacBrayne, having served as an interim port development consultant.
Prior to that he held several positions at Forth Ports, including commercial and development manager and port manager of both Grangemouth and Leith over an eight-year career. He also spent more than five years at haulage and intermodal operator P&O Ferrymasters, as general manager.
