The demise of the ports industry has not happened yet, if DP World’s results are anything to go by – except, of course, it hasn’t revealed its financials. In contrast with some of its results last year, the UAE company saw like-for-like container volumes grow 7.7% in the first half of the year. All three business regions enjoyed a boost, with Jebel Ali up 4.3% year-on-year. The port attributed the growth to “market share gains from the new shipping alliances”.
