UPS could face a monumental fine of some $872m for shipping untaxed cigarettes from Native American reservations. The court case alleges that UPS shipped 683,000 cartons illegally. It appears that the judge is none too sure of New York state and city authorities’ argument as yet – but the case will be critical, as FedEx is up next.
