As far a capacity goes, the wide body aircraft being introduced tend to be more of the B777 type which makes for a good plane for cargo whereas A380 is exactly the opposite.
What steamship line and airlines seem to have in common is directional imbalance which affects everything from capacity to rates and ULDs. No easy solution in the offing until someone invents a shrink/stretch capable craft.
