Container lines have won vast swathes of market share from specialist carriers, principally through years of highly competitive pricing, but the irony is that with practices such as slow steaming currently so widespread, it is the conventional reefer services which are far more logistically efficient, according to a series of presentations from the cool chain stream at this year’s Trans-Pacific Maritime event in Long Beach.
