AP tracked the supply chain of slave-caught fish to top US retailers

Global supply chains are becoming increasingly visible, and the multinational companies that operate them need to understand this – that is the chief lesson of this story. AP stands for Associated Press, one of the largest news agencies that newspapers normally rely on for the steady stream of on-diary stories. But here AP journalists embarked on year-long investigation that saw them find the unmarked graves of Burmese slaves buried in Thai forests, witness the terrible working conditions on Thai fishing boats, and follow the product right the way up to western supermarket shelves. If they can do it, so too can human rights campaigners and legislators, and pretty much anyone else – ignorance of the supply chain is no longer an option.
