There is an interesting legal case in the Netherlands, which will no doubt be closely watched. Royal FloraHolland is being sued by Noord-Holland Floration Europe for allegedly copying its patented ocean container storage techniques for roses and chrysanthemums. The claimant says it suspected the use of its techniques by FloraHolland for some time and, in September, seized a container to check the packaging. FloraHolland, meanwhile, said it rarely used sea freight until last year, and was confident that the way it transported flowers was “slightly different”. The case starts on 2 March, reports De Telegraaf.
