Bimco has appointed Niels Rasmussen as chief shipping analyst, to start on 3 January.
Mr Rasmussen has been global head of research at Maersk for the past six years, but has held many different roles at the Danish carrier across the world. He replaces Peter Sand, who left Bimco after some 13 years to become chief analyst at Xeneta.
“We are delighted Niels will be heading our shipping market analysis team. Bimco will continue to publish its quarterly reports about the main shipping segments while increasing our focus on the solutions and impacts of decarbonisation,” said Michael Lund, Bimco deputy secretary general.
Mr Rasmussen said: “I am excited to join Bimco and look forward to contributing to the industry’s understanding of market developments – from supply chain issues to challenges caused by the pandemic. I also look forward to working with the Bimco team.”
