The US’s National Public Radio (NPR) news site carries a story saying prosecutors in the US have arrested the MSC Gayane, the MSC vessel that last month was found to be carrying the largest amount of cocaine ever seized by US authorities. They raided the ship as it docked at the port of Philadelphia in June, and US Customs and Border Protection revealed yesterday it had obtained a warrant to seize the ship, with NPR reporting the vessel would remain in the court’s custody. Although no indication was given as to whether MSC itself would face any action – it is the third of the line’s vessel to have been busted this year – the carrier has received a temporary suspension of its Customs Trade Partnership certification as a result.
