DCT Gdansk has appointed Cameron Thorpe as its new chief executive, following the retirement of Maciek Kwiatkowski.
Mr Thorpe took the reins of the terminal, which handles 1m teu per year, on 16 December, joining from London Gateway, where also he served as chief executive.
He has held numerous roles across the globe in a career spanning 30 years. In 2003, he was appointed global business development manager of DP World before moving to Romania to manage the Constanta Container Terminal in 2005.
He later moved to Australia and Thailand, before accepting the role of managing director of DP World Korea in 2013, where he also served as vice president of PNC, Korea’s largest container terminal.
Mr Thorpe said he was very excited by the opportunity DCT presents.
“With our T2 facility now open, we will further enhance our excellent customer service and facilitate intermodal trade as the premier hub port in the region,” he added.
Mr Kwiatkowski’s retirement ends a career spanning more than four decades, including almost four years with the DCT Gdansk, where he finalised one of the largest projects in Pomerania – the construction of the second berth (T2).
He noted: “I am convinced that I am leaving DCT terminal and its team in good hands.”
