China is attempting to strengthen ties with Afghanistan to help it boost exports to the country – and through the country. Last month saw a Chinese freight train arrive in Afghan border town Hairatan, but via Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Although China and Afghanistan share a (tiny) border, there are no road or rail links. As SCMP reports, China is looking to foster a pro-Beijing Afghanistan and better trade links with the country.
