The weakness of the Asia-Europe trade is being felt in Singapore, where container turnover fell, for the first time since 2009, to a four-year low. Throughput fell 8.7% last year over the previous year as shipping alliances impacted volumes and routes, as well as direct sailings, due to cheaper fuel prices, making Sinagpore a less attractive hub.
