A start-up company hopes to improve the shipment of perishable goods with a new product that helps fruit and vegetables stay fresh for up to 10 weeks. Based on hydrogen peroxide, it could also help farmers reduce their use of fungicides. The product, made by Pimi Agro, is currently being tested by Wal- Mart and SunPacific. It decomposes into oxygen and water, leaving no chemical residue.
