DVZ radar: DHL Express awaits the next e-commerce star
It is all about networking
DHL Express has appointed company veteran Alberto Nobis (pictured above) as its new chief executive for Europe.
Mr Nobis joined DHL Worldwide from Heinz in 2006 as chief financial officer for Europe, before becoming global chief financial officer in 2009.
In 2012, he stepped down and returned to his native Italy as chief executive of DHL Express in Italy.
Now he replaces John Pearson, now global chief executive for DHL Express, who said: “His efforts to push the Italy business on all fronts have contributed to the country becoming one of our largest markets, and one in which we expect continuing high performance.”
In his new role, Mr Nobis will be responsible for DH Express activities across Europe’s 44 countries and described the appointment as a “great honour”.
“I can count on the decade of experience I’ve gained at DHL Express and on the support of our people and network to increase our performance throughout Europe,” he added. “I am greatly looking forward to working with John to achieve the next level of growth for DHL Express.”
A successor for the post in Italy has yet to be announced, but a DHL spokesperson said a decision would be made in the coming weeks.
