The largest freight firm in the US has reported relatively buoyant third-quarter results as volumes and rates rose in its core North American overland transport businesses. The real star of the show however, was its freight forwarding division, which saw revenues grow 41.3% and operating profit surge 83% following the integration of APC Logistics, which it bought last year, as well as a strong market – air, ocean and customs brokerage all saw double-digit revenue increases. There will, however, be concern at its perishable supply operation, Robinson Fresh, where revenues were flat and operating profit declined by 38%.
