China is fighting back against rival foreign container shipping lines. Last week, the minister for transport said he was considering asking lines to report their exact rates to the Shanghai Shipping Exchange, in a move which would enable authorities to supervise the market more effectively, and stamp out the slashing or raising of rates “maliciously” – and end unfair competition.
