Panalpina’s move last year to serve its air freight customers from its large Chicago office, rather than JFK, appears to be going successfully. It continues to move volumes through New York The forwarder says volumes have increased – and it has widened its operations to include a ‘white-glove’ service for a customer. It has subcontracted MSS Transportation (a Joseph Sarcona company), which provides special containers to protect shipments from challenges such as shock and temperature sensitivities, and which are equipped with technology which allows it to monitor data. Most of Panalpina’s customers that import or export via JFK are from the fashion, high-tech as well as consumer and retail industries.
