Crowley - P Harrison

Crowley Maritime has announced that Michael Roberts is due to move to Washington, to serve as senior vice president for government relations.

Mr Roberts left DC in 2008 to relocate to Jacksonville and take the reins as Crowley’s senior VP and general counsel. Parker Harrison (pictured) will take over this role after heading up the procurement team since 2015.

Mr Roberts’ has been part of the Crowley team since 1991, representing the company in the US capital on issues including maritime security, the Jones Act and economic regulations. Prior to that, he had worked across the three branches of US government and served as a lawyer in private practice.

Vice chairman and executive vice president Bill Pennella said: “We have a responsibility to help lead the industry through important policy decisions over the next few years. Mike has the experience and reputation to be very effective in this role.”

Ms Harrison joined the company as a claims director in 2013, before moving on to head the procurement team two years later.

During her time at Crowley, she has been responsible for risk management and mitigation during its work on Ebola relief and has supported its growing ship management business.

She also presides over the US chapter of the Women’s International Shipping & Trade Association.
