Government concessions failed to prevent Brazil’s nationwide truck strike entering its ninth day, severely impacting the country’s fuel distribution. Al Jazeera reports that government hopes for a last-minute deal on Sunday to allay further action were dashed.  Shortage of aviation fuel closed eight airports, while traffic to the port of Santos, which usually receives 10,000 trucks a day, was almost non-existent.
