Last week it emerged that the Djibouti government is set to withdraw DP World’s 30-year concession to operate the country’s container terminal, as reported here by Bloomberg, citing corruption in the bid process and following the launch of operations. Around a third of the tiny Red Sea state’s revenues come from transport – with Somali pirates to the south, and the chaos of the Arab Spring still being felt to the north, it has at times seemed an oasis of calm. So this is a big deal, but as with very story, it has two sides.
