Interesting analysis from a former director of strategy at IAG, on Qatar Airways’ surprisingly strong 2021 results of a $1.55bn profit. Robert Boyle compares the results to those of Emirates, which reported pre-tax losses of more than $1bn. He looks at the fleet differences, cargo business, and strategy to determine why Qatar did so much better. And he concludes: “I suspect we may be seeing some more impressive results from QR in the next year or two.”
