Volumes on the new Silk Road surged over the first three months of 2018. United Transport and Logistics Company Eurasian Railway Alliance JSC witnessed a 30% uptick in cargoes carried during the first quarter. This growth predominantly came from westbound traffic out of China, unsurprisingly. However, Rail Freight notes there was a surprise in the decline in eastbound traffic, which was down 43% year-on-year.
