APM Terminals has appointed Lars Vang Christensen (pictured above) as the new managing director of its facility in the Peruvian port of Callao.
He replaces Javier Lancha de Micheo.
Mr Vang Christensen was most recently chief executive of APM Terminals’ Egyptian joint-venture, Suez Canal Container Terminal.
“Lars has extensive knowledge of the needs of our clients, which will help prepare APM Terminals Callao for the challenges ahead, taking advantage of the solid foundations built by his predecessors,” the company said.
He began his career at Maersk as a deck cadet and later assumed roles such as captain, manager, port manager and general manager with the Maersk group.
His career has also taken him outside APMM, working for liquid bulk shipping firms, as well as a six-year stint as vice-chairman of the International Chamber of Shipping.
