Although the US north-west Pacific ports of Tacoma and Seattle have specifically ruled out the possibility of a full-blown merger, a raft of activities are likely to become increasingly co-ordinated between the ports after the Federal Maritime Commission yesterday ruled that the two be allowed to share information on rates, operations and facilities. A move towards a new Puget Sound gateway is on the cards for carriers and shippers.
