One of the thornier questions I have been struggling with lately is the priority of the main actors in the supply chain arena: is it now a fight for power or a race for cash, let alone higher profitability?
Ultimately, I can’t help but come to the conclusion that it is all about shareholder returns, particularly for the freight forwarders. Pleasing investors is more pressing than dealing with their customers’ needs – although they would never acknowledge this in public.
