Parekh panel suggests tariff deregulation at India's major ports

An Indian infrastructure finance committee has recommended that government-controlled ports, which include all India’s major ones, should no longer have regulated tariffs. The change would bring the ports into line with those owned by coastal state governments, would eliminate differentiation between berths, and ultimately bring market forces into India’s port system with the abolition of the much-maligned Tariff Authority of Major Ports.
