UPS saw second-quarter net income rise 3% to $1.27bn, on revenues up 4% to $14.1bn, outperforming analyst expectations. Despite a weak economy, the express operator said it would meet its year’s target through “improved network efficiency”. It also said it expected high holiday demand, but was already working with retailers to ensure it could cope.
