EU to offer fewer Northern Ireland border checks on British goods

Is that a silver lining we see? It appears from this BBC report that serious efforts are now under way to solve the seemingly intractable problems caused by the Northern Ireland protocol and the requirement to check shipments across the Irish Sea, which has caused all sorts of problem for Northern Irish supply chains and damaged trade with the UK mainland. The EU is set to unveil proposals to reduce the numbers of checks.
