The Brazilian government, under the leadership of Dilma Rousseff, has renewed its attempts to reform the country’s antiquated port system – with predictable results. As its export-led economy slows it desperately needs greater efficiency in its ports, but progress of the bill through its parliament is almost as painfully slow as ship loading and unloading operations themselves (which is quite an achievement). Strikes have begun once again to hit the country’s largest ports.

June 06, 2013 at 5:15 pmI worked at the very 1st project of private Port Terminal in Brazil (Portonave) dealing with the unions of this category and I can say they just want to protect their territory and play against the country development. The only way to built a bridge is partnership and structure a new relationship. AP
