SEKO Logistics has appointed John Eastland as president of its Washington DC-based aerospace and aviation division.

SEKO formed the unit last year to provide global aircraft manufacturing support, supplier management, government and defence services and aviation logistics support for aircraft-on-ground (AOG) shipments and parts for regular maintenance, repair and overhaul operations.

Mr Eastland said technology and global compliance had become more important in the aerospace and defence sectors, especially with the changing trade environment.

“The supply chain for aircraft manufacturing continues to become more complex, and with the number of vendors seeming to increase each year, it is now more crucial than ever for companies to have systems in place to manage their suppliers.

“Our customisable technology can be implemented quickly and gives SEKO’s customers visibility to measure the performance of suppliers against their purchase orders, delivery schedules and production deadlines.”

He has arrived from Hellmann Worldwide Logistics after three years at its Dallas/Fort Worth operation, where he first served as director of its domestic control tower before taking over as vice president of domestic product.

Prior to his time with Hellmann, he held senior management positions with PGL, Estes Forwarding Worldwide, Allstates WorldCargo and Watkins Motor Lines, where he began his logistics career in 2000.
