An $85bn airline rescue may only prolong the pain

It’s becoming quite a challenge to keep up with all the airline bailout and bankruptcy news. Bloomberg (which allows readers to view five free articles month), has published a handy guide. It includes information on the bailouts major airlines are receiving. One stands out in particular – Alitalia, which is being fully renationalised, has recognised a benefit: the chronically struggling airline will now be in the same position as all the others. A silver lining?
