Remember all the fuss about the EU, airlines and the Emissions Trading Scheme? Well the EU has agreed to extend the exemption for flights into and out of Europe until 2021. It says the extension will give time for ICAO to introduce a global carbon offsetting scheme – but it warned that if ICAO failed, international flights could once again fall under the EU ETS.
