Iran is looking to take on the Gulf hubs as a new transit point for global travel – and, presumably, freight. It has started, of course, with a $27bn investment in aircraft. This interesting Reuters article reveal hopes that Tehran can take on Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Doha. Iranair’s chairman said the airline wanted to play a full role again. But this strategy opens many questions: is it too late? Too expensive? Can the Gulf take more capacity?
