As China looks to fold its two national shipping lines into one, its commercial aviation authority has just given approval for plans to launch a new cargo airline. Guangzhou-based AVIC Cargo Airlines will see Chinese firm Joy Air Holding take a 45% stake in the carrier, which will run a fleet of B757 freighters and operate domestic mail and cargo routes, as well as some international operations. Guangzhou Airport is one of the fastest growing Chinese air cargo hubs.
