Reorganisation sees Leo Huisman named MD of APMT Americas

Maersk’s terminal operating arm APM Terminals has named Leo Huisman (above) as its managing director of the Americas region, following an internal management reorganisation.

It has streamlined its management structure from five global regions to three – Americas, Africa/Europe, and Asia Pacific.

“By combining the full Americas scope across North America and South America, APM Terminals will be better able to serve both East/West trades, North/South trades and landside supply chains in a more holistic, effective manner,” the company said in a statement.

Mr Huisman has been APM Terminals Latin America regional managing director for the past three years, based in Panama. He was previously regional managing director of APM Terminals Europe and also brings extensive liner industry experience to the role.

“We want to continuously improve our way of working for customers and this more integrated approach to our Americas regional structure commercially, operationally and sustainably enables us to get into a higher gear for customer performance and our ESG goals,” he said.

Jeremy Ford (below), APM Terminals North America’s chief commercial officer (CCO), has been appointed CCO of the Americas, based in Charlotte, North Carolina.

“Our goal is to create more opportunities for customers across our Americas container terminals so that liner operators can optimise schedule rotations, vessel utilisations, equipment flows and supply chain velocity. This new Americas structure enables us to accelerate decision-making and response times to customers,” he said.

He will be supported in Latin America by Alberto Hoyos, based in Panama.
