Patrick Terminals is seeking to terminate its enterprise agreement with the Maritime Union of Australia (MUA), upping the ante in its long-running dispute with the union.

The move follows the MUA’s latest round of industrial action at the stevedore’s container terminals, announced on Monday.

    MUA should be ashamed of themselves. The amount of delays caused by industrial action put on Patricks Is just another spanner in the spokes of an already strained logistics system. Here in Fremantle, vessels have been awaiting berthing for up to 10 days due to rolling stoppages and no extra labour or overtime.
    As per Melbourne carriers are unable to contract these vessels out to Dp world as they are already full.
    This has led to carriers ommiting Fremantle or simply missing sailings due to compounding delays. Costing us, Patrick’s customers and no doubt the shipping lines millions of dollars in lost revenue which we will be unable to catch up before Christmas.
    Shame on you MUA, the sooner automation comes to our ports, the better! Shame, shame, shame!!
