Boris Johnson, the flamboyant Mayor of London, has revealed his thoughts on the development of new airport capacity for south east England. His proposal is to close Heathrow and build houses there, and build a new airport on the Isle of Grain in Kent. The cost, both to business and government is high, and the plan would lead to the loss of 114,00 jobs in the Heathrow area (although there is no mention of the number of jobs it might create in Kent).
