It’s not yet clear why, but the “Uber for truckers”, Los-Angeles-based Cargomatic, has reportedly laid off half its staff, following a recent hiring spree. The start-up has raised more than $10m from venture capitalists keen to invest in an app which connects trucks with capacity to businesses which need it. Operating in southern California and New York, the company had said it wanted to expand. But a source told Business Insider, “something was amiss”.
