Chief executive for DB Schenker USA Jeff Barrie sat down with Now That’s Logistics to discuss the state of the market. While Mr Barrie’s career saw him away from his native market for eight years, he says he has not seen much change, nor does he believe the US and EU markets are noticeably different. In fact, in both markets he talks up the looming peril of the driver shortage, which in the US he believes will be particularly acute amid expectations of a 150,000-driver shortfall in the next five or six years. This, he says, will be mirrored in the contract logistics sector, as fears spread of warehouse worker shortages.
