There appear to be some scurrilous goings on at the port of Long Beach. The mayor has proposed to sack the Harbour Commission president, Thomas Fields, perhaps rather unkindly while Mr Fields (pictured) was in Hong Kong shoring up business for the troubled west coast port. The news not only put out Mr Fields, but the industry and businesses in Long Beach. One labelled the mayor’s action as ‘Nixonian’, while others says they were ‘flabbergasted’ and ‘concerned’.
